We are a team of 3 high school students who care deeply about the environment. We aim to use our skill-sets in computer science, engineering and business to build an all-encompassing platform for coral reef protection.

Meet the Team

We are a team of 3 high school students eager to make an impact in the world.

Simba Shi

Simba is 17 years old and a King's Scholar at Eton College in the United Kingdom. As top 1500 out of over 15 million users on Kaggle—the largest data science competition site globally—he is keen to utilise his skill set in machine learning to address pressing environmental issues. He has previously been named an Earth Prize Scholar for his work in using AI and mycology to filter rivers in Nigeria.

Thenuk Rodrigo

Thenuk is a 17-year-old King's Scholar at Eton College. Designing and building from a young age, Thenuk has always been passionate about applying his computer science and robotics skills to both his entrepreneurial and non-profit ventures. Thenuk has developed AI/robotics solutions for industries ranging from rural agriculture to financial markets.

Bonnie Liu

Bonnie is a 17-year-old student at The Affiliated High School of South China Normal University. She is a keen mathematician and computer scientist selected to attend the prestigious Ross Mathematics Program, and eager to utilise theoretical concepts to address social action and solve real-world problems. She hopes that her initiatives will inspire more women to pursue STEM.

We believe that environmentalism is something which every human being should care about, because of its profound impact on all of us.

We are at the mercy of Earth; our only home, containing everything we’ve ever known and loved, every laughter and joy, and which will decide the fate of humankind.

Philosophy

With the situation worsening year by year, to truly mitigate the impacts of climate change, technology must improve drastically.

We want to show the world that solutions don’t necessarily need to cost billions – they can be implemented cheaply, sustainably, and efficiently.

This is ReefSound's philosophy. It has led us to create a coral reef health monitoring system that is 60% cheaper and 5 times more efficient than current alternatives.
